Metallurgical expert reports

Failures (breakage, cracking, wear, etc.) are analysed daily within our materials centre. The first decisive stage is the preliminary inquiry, sometimes on site, in collaboration with the customer.

Then the parts or samples are shipped to our laboratory to proceed with morphological analyses, fractographic examinations, micro-structural examinations, etc.To do so, we dispose of a scanning electron microscope and an optical microscope, etc. (see characterisation heading).

Non-Destructive Inspections (NDI), chemical analyses, mechanical tests, etc. can be added.

rupture-1 Some concrete cases:

  • Breakages, cracking
  • Tool breakage
  • Damage to production facilities
  • Damage to parts produced
  • Surface damage: wear, seizing, etc.
  • etc.

rupture-2 Techniques used:

  • Examination of the microstructure
  • Fractography (scanning electron microscope)
  • Material analyses (see chemical analyses)
  • Mechanical characteristics (see mechanical tests)
  • Non-Destructive Inspections
  • etc.
